Why I love love Amal Alamuddin!

Amal Alamuddin! This is a woman after my own heart! I love her! For those who do not know who she is, she is the woman who has managed to capture George Clooney's heart (sorry, that sounded a bit Mills & Boon-ish, ewww). The reason why I have so much respect for Amal is not only that she has bagged the man who was once the most eligible bachelor on earth, but because she is exactly the kind of woman I aspire to be. Certainly, I love the fact that she is married to a man who a lot of women would give their right arm for, but more than that I am inspired by the fact that she is Amal Alamuddin, before she is Amal Clooney. Too many times, we begin to know who a woman is after she has married a successful man. More often than not, she ends up being called a gold digger and being judged left right and centre, especially if there is a significant difference in the couple's individual finances. However, as far as Amal's relationship with George is concerned, he is just the icing on an already very yummy cake!

Amal and her George *sigh*

Just a bit of background on Amal. She is a London-based dual-qualified English barrister and New York litigation attorney. She is not just an ordinary lawyer but has represented high profile clients like the WikiLeaks whistleblower Julian Assange. She has worked in the Office of the Prosecutor at the UN Special Tribunal for Lebanon and at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia She is an adviser to the King of Bahrain (yes, advisor to the KING!) in connection with the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry and in 2013 was also advisor to Special Envoy Kofi Annan on the Syria issue. All this she has achieved at the tender age of 36! She really reminds me of myself. Women like her affirm to me that I am on the right path. Achieve as much as you can especially before marriage and babies come along.

Education, education, education!

Another thing I love about her (I shall be abusing the word love in this post and I do not apologise), is that she seems to do all she does with class and grace. I am yet to read or hear about any "diva-like" behaviour from her. She keeps her private life exactly that, private. I undertsand she has deactivated her Instagram and Twitter accounts and only speaks in public on issues relating to her work.

Last but by no means least, Amal is also quite the fashionista. She does all she does looking like a million bucks!

We need more women like Amal in the world to inspire young women around the globe with real, solid achievements that actually make a difference in the world. Ladies, these are the kind of women we need to emulate. Go out there, get an education, do what you love and excel at it. Keep your dignity at all times. Take care of yourself and make sure you look and feel your best always. Be the best you you can possibly be. We only have one life to live girls. Make sure you squeeze every bit of life out of it!

Even George Clooney agrees with me as he has been quoted as saying he "married up"!
